Will this pickup work in a Classical? I have a Washburn C40. The pickup costs more than my guitar, I know. But I also put an LR Baggs M1 in my Mitchell. Again, a guitar that cost less than the pickup, at the time. My Mitchell sounds incredible. So, i want to get good, loud sound out of my classical without the feedback loop I battle with a condenser mic I’m using. Is this pickup a good choice?

  2. markkSJ says:

Only a snob would not want to buy a guitar that’s installed with a good pickup like the Anthem. A guitar with pickup that sounds good is better value than an expensive guitar without pickup that sounds like crap.

he’s got man-boobs… should work out bro

  5. AAznguy says:

How much would a luthier charge for this install? I don’t trust myself. Great video btw.

  6. admiralneckbeard says:

I agree. That’s the best thing about the internet, in my opinion…sharing useful information and alternative sources of entertainment. My Anthem arrived in the mail today and I am installing it right now, thanks to your help. Best Regards.

I’m thinking about buying this for my HD-28V (2003) model Martin. I was wondering, is difficult or expensive to take off the fixed or glued in saddle?

this video has all the little details that makes this video invaluable, thank you I am sold

  11. DingoBabyEat says:

6:49 all completely unobtrusive to the tone of the guitar

but then his eyes say “please don’t fuck up my guitar! Please God!”

  12. mangalsuvarnan says:

OH MAN. Ive had nightmares of my guitar being drilled like that. I live all the way in Dubai, I really want you guys to do the same thing to my guitar as you did to the one on the video. Can we work something out?

  13. signofthebeast666 says:

Is this Anthem pickup/preamp preferable to, say, a Dean Markley soundhole pickup with a LR Baggs DI box? With that box you get equalization that it doesn’t appear you get with the Anthem. What do you think?

  14. GryphonStrings says:

In our opinion it does not. It is relatively easy to reverse, and while some would not want to buy a guitar such as this with pickup, many modern buyers are not concerned.

  15. GryphonStrings says:

: Doing what we do and the amount of vintage Martin’s that we sell, we are well aware of that guitar’s value. Given the fact that oversize ivoroid endpins are available if someone wants to remove a pickup and go back au natural, we do not feel that this type of modification diminishes the value of the guitar (although some of course disagree). In the end, it doesn’t matter because the owner of this guitar will never sell it, gigs with it, and enjoys the pickup.

  16. ramblingdanwinnipeg says:

sorry – but it’d be way wiser to install that in a new D-28 rather than diminish the value of a guitar of that vintage by drilling out the endpin. That guitar is worth all original around 5-6k on the market today.

I pretty much followed your video along with looking on the LR Baggs website for orientation of the mic postion. I installed on a Recording King RD 227, which is pretty much crafted after a Martin Herringbone D 28 (HD-28). I must say, WOW!!! Man, huge sound, no feedback supressor in the sound hole. Sounds wonderfully natural. Thanks for posting.

  18. CFMD28 says:

Great guitar. Does the installation diminish it’s value?

  19. GryphonStrings says:

Yes, in our opinion the Anthem is the most natural, affordable system on the market currently.

    @GryphonStrings
Ah man. You guys left out the part that I wanted to see the most, which was how to instal the TruMic. I really wanted to see that. It’s okay though. Oh BTW I have a Yamaha CG-201S. Do you think the Anthem is better for me as a posed to a Dean Markley ProMag? The price difference is huge, but if the Anthem will work better for my guitar, that is extra money I will gladly spend. Thanks in advance for any feedback and Hafa Adai from Guam!

  21. drpayne70 says:

Great Video! I didn’t see the details of how to mount the microphone part of the system though. Thanks for posting.

Wonderful! I make these instruments here in India. How do fit that little rod inside the neck? I usually use a think bamboo stick for the neck and it takes hell to make a hole of that diameter inside a coconut shell.

  24. gwells90 says:

i want me one a them gourd banjos!!!

David is one of the coolest, genuinely down-to-earth, good hearted persons I have ever had the privledge to meet. Lives close to where my wife and her family grew up, & are friends with David. I never knew of Dave until I was wanting to build a boat, googling around and found a website (simplicityboats) that Dave made, that my wife came by and said “Oh he’s my neighbor.” SMALL WORLD when something like that happens. Anyway, thanks David for contributing so much to you community and world.

I bought a Dulcimer a couple months back. Still in the box. Winter time I shall attempt to learn. Confusing beginner music book on it though. Says with 3 strings. Mine has four strings. DUH to me with instruments.
